The decorative designs around Visions as well as the shape of Visions are not element-based. However, what this means is unknown, and whether the effects are the same for all sources of resonance is also unknown. Visions can resonate under certain circumstances, such as when reacting to elemental energy in the vicinity. For example, Fischl is the only person currently known to have created an apparently independent familiar (Oz) through her Vision, and she seems to have subconsciously manifested him based on the character in Flowers for Princess Fischl, her favorite novel series. The way their powers manifest also vary based on the user's skills and personality. However, the means by which Visions allow their wielders to harness elemental energy, as well as what is exchanged for this power, are a mystery. The one thing that is known for certain is that Visions are conduits for their associated elements. Very little is known about Visions, even to those who have been bestowed with one as well as those who research Visions. There are no known cases of Vision wielders who have more than one Vision, although they may temporarily reactivate a Masterless Vision and use it alongside their own Vision under certain circumstances. After a Vision wielder's passing, their Vision will deactivate, losing its color and rendering it unusable unless it is reactivated. To current knowledge, Visions cannot be destroyed. These objects take the form of glowing gems with the respective element's symbol in the center. Visions are items that characters carry on their person. In the upper left corner of the character screen, there is an icon that represents a playable character's Vision, with their element denoted by the gem and their associated nation denoted by the decorative design around the gem, even for the characters that do not use Visions and characters with non-standard Vision designs. Wielders of Visions are called allogenes, though this is not a widely-known term. It is said that those with Visions have a chance of ascending to Celestia and attaining godhood themselves. They grant the user elemental abilities based on the element of their given Vision.
